QuickFlip 2: The jQuery Flipping Plugin

By Vinod  //  All, Javascript  //  1 Comment

QuickFlip is a jQuery plugin Jon has wrote that uses a CSS trick to cause a div, paragraph or any other piece of HTML markup to flip like a card. With a result similar to the UI animation on the iPhone, this jQuery plugin is easily integrated into your webpage to make any portion appear to flip and show its back.

QuickFlip works by using an animation shortcut that is barely noticeable when flipped quickly (hence the name). This shortcut improves performance while allowing the flip effect to work smoothly with any piece of markup regardless of images, backgrounds or CSS.

QuickFlip 2 is now even easier to implement. The new script pulls in and applies the necessary styling, so there is no need to include a QuickFlip stylesheet or to define the dimensions of the panel you’re flipping.

WebKit HTML5 Search Inputs

By Vinod  //  All, HTML, Tutorials  //  1 Comment

One of the new types of inputs in HTML5 is search.

<input type=search name=s>

It does absolutely nothing in most browsers. It just behaves like a text input. This isn’t a problem. The spec doesn’t require it to do anything special. WebKit browsers do treat it a bit differently though, primarily with styling.
